Bill Tieleman is one of British Columbia’s best-known communicators and strategists, as well as a newspaper columnist, radio and television political commentator. Bill combines experience at the top levels of the provincial government and the labour movement with expert public relations skills.

Tieleman writes a weekly column on politics that appears every Tuesday in BC’s free weekday paper ’24 Hours’, and is a regular contributor to BC’s award-winning online newsmagazine thetyee.com. Previously, he contributed regular columns for the Georgia Straight weekly newspaper and the National Post newspaper on labour and alternative economic issues.

Tieleman is well-known as a skilled political campaigner. Recently, he was Strategist for Fight HST, the organization led by former BC Premier Bill Vander Zalm that launched the first-ever successful citizens initiative campaign against the Harmonized Sales Tax in 2010. BC is the only province with Initiative legislation.

Regularly interviewed by the media about politics, Tieleman has appeared on Global TV news, CBC and CKNW radio, the Globe and Mail, the National Post, CBC TV’s The National, Canada Now and News Network, Maclean’s magazine, CITY TV, CTV, BCTV, the Vancouver Sun and Province newspapers and BC Business magazine.

In his early career, Tieleman was a reporter and freelance journalist writing for publications such as the Vancouver Sun and the Montreal Gazette, and was National Bureau Chief for the Canadian University Press in Ottawa. He holds a Masters’ Degree in Political Science from the University of BC.
