Authentic Cuba Travel and Turner Music & Events are pleased to present the 2012 Havana International Jazz Festival Tour!
In 1979, a series of successful concerts by Bobby Carcassés, one of Cuba’s jazz masters, and other musicians, led to the first Havana Jazz Festival, held in 1981 at the Casa de la Cultura of the Havana municipality of Plaza.
This year, Carcassés’ legacy continues with Jazz Plaza 2012, an exciting tour that features performances from musical innovators from all over the world including the U.K., Bermudas, Argentina, Chile, the United States. Past jazz masters who have graced the multi-venue event include Dizzy Gillespie, Max Roach, Carmen McCrae, and Charlie Haden.
Joining their prestigious ranks are Cuban jazz bands and soloists, among them, Mayra Caridad Valdés, Bobby Carcassés, José Luis Cortés, Harold López-Nussa, Ernán López-Nussa and Lázaro Valdés. Late night jams are a nightly occurrence and have provided interesting match-ups such as Roy Hargrove sitting in with percussion legend Changuito and others.
The tour includes the the Mella Theatre, Casa de la Cultura of Plaza, La Zorra y El Cuervo Jazz Club, Palacio de La Rumba, Casa del Alba National Theatre of Cuba, Karl Marx Theatre, Sevilla and Cohiba Hotels.
