Vancouver's Redgy Blackout walk to a different beat than your average pop/rock band. They combine elements of folk, swing, rock and reggae to
their sound, twirling and twisting them into ridiculously catchy songs with a blend of uplifting and lamenting lyrics.
The core duo is theatrically adept singer and multi-instrumentalist Scott Perrie, and Jeremy Breaks, who shreds, picks,
plucks and strums everything with a string.
This talented alt-folk-rock duo have been perfecting their collaborative craft since they met at an open jam in Vancouver. Both came from musical backgrounds, Perrie through the theatre and his grandfathers ’61 Gibson J45, and Breaks through growing up in his father’s music store in Prince George.
The duo’s musical vision came together with their acclaimed 2009 debut "The Leap", which charted on over 30 stations across the country. In 2010 they recorded an EP entitled "Meet You On The Other Side", produced by Tom Dobrzanski (The Zolas). Containing the popular upbeat track “Like Penguins Do”, Redgy Blackout toured throughout western Canada playing festivals such as Harmony Arts in West Vancouver, and the Deraylor Festival in Whistler, among others.
These days Redgy Blackout are producing their best material yet, bringing a united focus and dedication to the music they create, and collaborating with top notch musicians. 2011 has been an exciting year so far, seeing Redgy Blackout release their second EP, and be chosen as one of the top 20 bands in the Peak Performance Project!
The new Redgy Blackout EP is a collection of 6 original songs of rock-your-pants-off (“Bottom Of The Sea”), pure pop folk (“100 Cigarettes”) and heartfelt songwriting (“Once Knew You”). It’s a testament to the musicianship of the members of Redgy Blackout and their devotion to the craft; it displays a comfort and maturity with songwriting and composition with a sense these guys really like to have fun. The Redgy Blackout EP was produced by Elisa Pangsaeng, and mixed by Tom Dobrzanski (Said The Whale, The Zolas). This band is definitely on the rise.
